The installation "Hiro Kai" by the Chilean artist Enrique Muñoz García invites us to reflect on the identity and the changes that entail a migratory displacement in search of new life.
Hiro Kai, a citizen born in Sasebo-Nagasaki, Japan, of Japanese parents, emigrated to Brazil in 1961 when he was 6 years old. His memories of the moment when the boat crossed the Atlantic and the process of his integration in Brazil as well as in other South American countries are the parts of this story.Hiro Kai presents 6 photos of his family album in which his father is seen saying goodbye to his friends outside a train, the passport photo of hiro with his father, the boat Argentina Maru, the group photo where Hiro`s parents are seen with his sister, etc.
